Cpt. Ian Townsend

545th MP Company, 1st Cavalry Division

Fort Hood, Texas  - Now deployed in Iraq

Flags flying at Camp Ferrin-Huggins (re-named after two heroes from 1AD who gave their life here). From R to L: the American, Iraqi and Texas flags. On the far left, the cavalry unit flag did not catch the wind.

Aggie Muster we had here at Victory Base, Baghdad, Iraq on 21 April 04. You can see there was a large attendance for us to all gather, share Aggie stories, and remember our fallen brother and sister Aggies from the past year. General Sanchez joined us for the photo (He's not an Aggie, graduate of Texas A&I, Kingsville, Texas) Can you find Captain Townsend? See if you can you find any other MPs that are also Aggies, I have one lieutenant and one sergeant.

Lastly is a photo of Ian and Major General Joe Weber, A&M class of '72. He is currently the Chief of Staff of CJTF7 and just left being the 3rd Marine Division commander in Okinawa. His roommate at A&M was someone well known to all Texans now, Governor Rick Perry. General Weber was our Muster speaker and my near-beer drinking buddy for one round. One heck of a guy who already has a home built in College Station to retire to. Maybe someone Susan & I will run into if and when I get to teach ROTC there. I figure that both Dad Townsend & Dad Maloney will like this one since Dad T loves the Hoo-Ra spirit of the Marines and Dad M loves the fact that I just hang out with generals like we are old friends. Maybe there is hope that I will make it past Captain, who knows, anything is possible :-)
