Cpt. Ian Townsend 545th MP Company, 1st Cavalry Division Fort Hood, Texas - Now deployed in Iraq |

After two months of deployment I believe the 545th MP
Company is doing quite well. We have been in Iraq a month and a half
now. We had a very busy initial week or two of organization as we
transferred authority from the 501st MP Company, 1st Armored Division,
as the primary division MP company in Baghdad. We worked jointly with
their Soldiers and learned all the roads and locations of bases of the
Baghdad Area of Operations. We enjoyed working with our brothers and
sister MPs who served here with distinction over the last year. Once we
took over we had two primary missions, first our 5th platoon has the
responsibility of keeping all of our general officers safe and secure as
they travel throughout Baghdad. We also have soldiers in our 3rd platoon
that keep our command sergeant major safe every day. These soldiers are
always doing great work and are proud to do their jobs. We also have a
very important mission of running the Division Confinement Facility that
holds the terrorists.

Promotion of Staff Sergeant Connor to Sergeant First Class (E-7). He is being promoted by SFC Sullivan and SFC Harr. This is a significant day in a noncommissioned officer's career and we are proud of him.
Another great photo of the promotion of SFC Connor, notice the new E-7 rank on his collar |
