SUNDAY APRIL 18

Saturday's clouds were gone by Sunday morning, but the wind had been howling all night long. Are those
whitecaps out in Chesapeake Bay?

The view of the bay from breakfast looks cool - and windy!

Jim and Rachael Brady board their gorgeous 1959 Comanche 180 to fly back to Sanford, NC.

Took this picture for my airplane partner Dale, whose father owned both 180 and 250 Comanches.

Panel of the Brady's flying machine.

We broke ground on Runway 5 and with the brisk headwind the VSI looked good! Here is the view toward our
hotel, you can see the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel leaving the shore on the left side of the picture

Water, water everywhere. Beautiful.

Navy docks in Newport News. My grandfather worked there as a carpenter, building ships in WWII.

We started out at 4000, pretty choppy. The cloud layer looked reachable, so we climbed to 6000. It was smooth
for a short while, then the clouds kept rising leaving the turbulence underneath. My ear wouldn't let me go higher
so we descended back down to 4000 and toughed it out. My lovely bride gets extra points for this return
trip. She was a real trooper.

A lot clearer when we headed past Falls Lake near Raleigh on the return trip.

Tied down back at Wilgrove. A wonderful weekend, especially when you have such a great co-pilot!.
