FRIDAY APRIL 16
We departed 8A6 into the morning haze at 0854, climbed toward a high layer but stayed in the clear all the way.

Visibility was pretty good from 5000' - straight down! This is KHBI, Asheboro, NC
Not quite to LIB VOR we had a slight tailwind.

Passing by Falls Lake we waved at Brent and Katherine (in Raleigh) and Sandy (in Wendell) but doubt they saw us! Pretty hazy...

When Washington Center turned us over to Norfolk Approach at 1032 there still wasn't great vis straight ahead, but thank goodness it was SMOOTH!

Can you see the FKN (Franklin, VA) VOR?

17 miles from KORF (Norfolk International) and being vectored
for the downwind for 23.
We are smokin' at 129 knots.

KORF in sight, Chesapeake Bay beyond, haze improved a great deal down low.

On the ground I was intrigued by this Dormier 328-300 at Landmark FBO. It seats 32 plus crew.
Used the iphone
tripadvisor.com app to find One Fish
Two Fish, a wonderful restaurant sitting at the end of Long Bay Pointe Marina.
It was rated #3 of 700+ restaurants in Virginia Beach and was only 1 mile from
the hotel. The rating was accurate,
it was fabulous.

The
restaurant was fully booked, so we sat at the bar surrounding the kitchen prep
area. It was fascinating watching
the staff prepare meals (like the pastry chef here firing up a creme brulee),
plus it made us want to try everything!
A truly spectacular sunset. The picture doesn't do it justice.

This one was taken with the iphone, still falls short of the beauty we saw. You'll just have to go see it for yourself!
